This review is from: Canon IXY Digital camera IXY 31S Gold | ELPH 500 HS, IXUS 310 (Japan Import) (Electronics) I bought this camera to replace my Canon Ixus 200 IS (Powershot SD980 IS in the USA). Both cameras offer a 12.1 megapixel sensor, except this one is CMOS. The pictures it makes are beautiful, perfect colors, clear contrast, and less grain than with CCD sensors. The camera also features a beautiful touch panel, and, although it has the same pixel count as the one on my previous Canon, this one looks much better, brighter and more natural. The 32 predefined shooting situations are quite useful, with some fun effects like "blur edges", "fish eye lens effect" etc And of course, you don't see everybody walking around with a shiny golden camera, Canon usually makes these in silver or black...
