My New Favorite Camera, November 28, 2011 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Ricoh CX5 10 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 10.7x Optical Zoom (Silver) (Electronics) I use cameras in my work every day. I need images from projects for clients and images of products and people and job sites. I need images for fun and for my site. I'm a solar astronomer and like easy to capture images of the sun (using a special telescope). So, in all, I have a dozen digital cameras from older basic Canons to high end DSLRs. I have some exotic cameras for solar imaging too.
So why did I need, or want another camera? I wanted the camera that could do it all, easily. The CX5 from Ricoh is it.
I wish I could be there for everyone who buys this camera because it can do things you'd love but probably never discover. For example, the Ricoh CX5 will do time lapse photography. There are very few cameras with that feature and it's a feature I NEED. I use it to analyze weather patterns and efficiency of processes. You can make a cool time lapse of dinner being made or a storm rolling in...I'll help you if you can contact me.

I already own a Nikon, and it was fine, but the lens got scratched and I thought I would try something new. I had never heard of Ricoh cameras before, so doing some research, I thought I would give it a try. I LOVE IT! I have been having fun experimenting with the features. The pictures so far have been to my ultimate satisfaction. It is light weight, easy to handle and even without reading the manual, you can pretty much figure it out (I hate to read manuals).
